The reason behind Ladybird’s presence in a public bathroom was heart-wrenching. For nine remarkable years, she and her owner had traversed the country, sharing an unbreakable bond since she was just six weeks old.
Through the highs and lows, they always found solace returning to their home in North Carolina before embarking on new adventures together. However, circumstances took a turn when Ladybird’s owner found himself homeless in Louisiana.

Stranded without transportation or shelter, he made the difficult decision to leave Ladybird overnight in the bathroom. His note, filled with desperation, pleaded for her care until his return and left provisions, including water, for her comfort.
The following morning, Ladybird’s owner returned to find her gone. Concerned, he reached out to animal control, leading to Ladybird’s relocation to St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter.
Upon learning Ladybird and her owner’s plight, a compassionate team of rescuers sprang into action. Despite the unconventional circumstances, they felt compelled to aid this loyal pair who had stood by each other for so long.

Coordinating with Virginia Beach SPCA, Ladybird was transferred for care and pampering. After a rejuvenating bath and spa day, she indulged in a pupachino treat for her resilience.
As Ladybird’s story spread, pet organizations rallied to assist her journey home. With funds raised for her flight and provided medical care and supplies, Ladybird finally reunited with her family in North Carolina, sharing a heartwarming reunion with her grandmother.
Overjoyed to be together once more, Ladybird and her owner reached out to their rescuers, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support.

“Ladybird is doing wonderfully with her family in North Carolina! We had quite a few questions about her human in Louisiana, and we want everyone to know that he is doing well and is so happy that Ladybird is home,” shared the VBSPCA team on Facebook.
Through adversity and compassion, Ladybird and her owner found their way back to a semblance of normalcy, thanks to the generosity and love of a community dedicated to animal welfare.
