An orphaned baby elephant, found near Tsavo East National Park in Kenya, has captured hearts worldwide after being rescued from the brink of death by the Kenya Wildlife Service and David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT).

The calf, estimated to be three to four months old, was discovered struggling to survive following a jackal attack.

Despite facing predators and starvation, the calf miraculously survived, thanks to the swift response of rescuers who nursed him back to health.

Angela Sheldrick, Executive Director of DSWT, described the calf’s condition as “desperate,” highlighting the harsh realities of life in the wild.

Transported to Nairobi National Park, the calf now resides at DSWT’s orphanage, receiving round-the-clock care from dedicated keepers.
His journey to recovery has been aided by the nurturing support of older elephants, particularly Tagwa, who has taken him under her wing.

The calf’s resilience serves as a reminder of the ongoing threats faced by elephants in Africa, including poaching.
Despite the challenges, conservation efforts continue to safeguard these majestic creatures, ensuring a hopeful future for orphaned elephants like him.
