The female dog continuously barked and led the way to ask someone to save 5 young dogs that fell through a narrow gap in Thailand on August 13.
Panya Taoputtha, a 60-year-old resident of Bueng Kan province in northeastern Thailand, heard the sound of a dog whining in front of his house early in the morning. He walked towards the source of the sound and saw a female dog nervously running around the mitigation gap in the concrete floor. When looking through the gap, Panya discovered five young dogs crowded into the tight space. Panya immediately called the rescue organization to help the dogs.
“The mother dog kept lulling me and led me to the swimming pool. At first, I didn’t understand what she wanted to signal me until I looked down and saw her cubs,” Panya shared.
Volunteers and local people quickly arrived. They do small filtering and loosening to keep the dog from getting stuck. In the video, two rescue workers tie ropes to young dogs’ legs and slowly pull them out one by one from a deep hole. The mother dog took care of him and followed the whole team throughout the rescue process, which lasted a while. All five young dogs are safe and reunited with their mother.
“The dogs have been living in the neighborhood for about a month now. The owner may have abandoned the mother dog when she found out she was pregnant. Sometimes, I feed the dogs and play with them, so they are quite familiar with me. The mother dog may have tried to come to where I was that morning to help,” Panya said.
