Determined to make a difference, the group quickly intervened, picked up the sick dog and took him to the hospital for immediate medical attention. The dog, later named Midnight, was in critical condition, refusing to eat, suggesting the tumor was affecting its health.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Midnight underwent a series of tests, including blood tests, X-rays and ultrasounds. Veterinarians discovered a myriad of problems, including hookworms, anemia and malnutrition. To make matters worse, Midnight’s blood platelet count was dangerously low, making surgical removal of the tumor impossible at the time.
Time is of the essence as the tumor continues to grow, posing a serious threat to Midnight’s life. The dedicated team performed all the necessary blood tests to determine the optimal timing for surgery, not wanting to give up on this special dog.
Despite the challenges, Midnight’s surgery was ultimately successful and the large tumor, identified as a testicular tumor, was removed. Weighing approximately 4.85 pounds, the tumor was a significant burden on Midnight’s fragile body.
