The Golden State Warriors’ overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks was marred as Moses Moody suffered a grotesque knee injury that unsettled viewers and left the guard in agony
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody was stretchered off the court as he suffered a horrific knee injury in overtime against the Dallas Mavericks.
On Monday night, while the basketball world has generally been gripped by March Madness over the last few days, the NBA took center stage as the Warriors clinched a 137-131 win over the Mavericks at the American Airlines Center. But the game ended on a sour note, as Moody’s gruesome injury derailed the night.
The Warriors’ bench reacted horribly to the injury, and athletic training staff ran over to help Moody and cover up his knee once play ended on the other side of the court.
Moody’s knee suffered a clear deformity as the guard, who put up 23 points, three rebounds and three assists before his injury, faces a potential patellar tendon rupture.
Fans flocked to social media to give their takes on Moody’s uniquely devastating injury. One user wrote: “Never seen this before, ugh.”

“Wow that is f—– up looking,” one user put it bluntly. Another quipped: “That is frigging brutal. And must not feel very nice.”
Others attempted to diagnose the full extent of the injury. One posted: “Watching the video closely almost see and sense that ACL pop/give out as well. Could have just been the patellar tendon though. Brutal.”
“Possible tibia plateau fracture as well,” speculated another.
Ultimately, specifics of Moody’s injury are unclear. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr confirmed Moody was getting X-rays after the game, but no confirmation or news of his injury was clear. He told reporters: “We don’t know what it is, but it sure looked bad.”
Moody was seen on crutches with a knee brace moving very slowly in the locker room. He will fly back to the Bay Area with the team and get an MRI on Tuesday.
