Thank you, Lord, for answering our prayers and keeping Maggie & her precious filly safe!

Just grateful that these 2 ladies are ALIVE🙌🏻
For those that don’t know, Maggie coliced at around 295 days gestation, and had to undergo surgery to correct her colon displacement…
That in itself was very risky for her pregnancy and life, but we got through it! She settled in at home to recover, was enjoying her hand walks, seemed so content in her big foaling stall to heal…

We had hoped and prayed that she would be able to heal for as long as possible before foaling, but her colon had other plans!
At 322 days gestation, her colon was once again displaced, causing her immense pain and distress. Both of those things are terrible for anyone, let alone a HEAVILY pregnant momma! It didn’t take long to figure out that she would need a second surgery, and I was asked a lot of questions that I wasn’t prepared to have to answer, and there were decisions that no horse owner wants to make.
Going into surgery, with the fact that we are trying to save TWO lives, we had to have a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, etc.
Once she went into surgery, I asked the masses for prayer. Prayer and positivity were all I could give Maggie and her baby at that point. I’m not one to cry and lose it over hard decisions in my day to day life. Farm life is full of hard and “not fun” decisions, and I’ve become decently used to the suck of it. But with Maggie…
LOST IT, I did.
She had all the odds stacked against her, and yet she STILL was able to come through a SECOND surgery, and then NOT EVEN 24 HOUR LATER, give birth unassisted to a healthy filly!
I truly believe God wrapped his arms around the AMAZING veterinary professionals who expertly saved BOTH of my girls’ lives. I am so grateful for not only the skill of these phenomenal vets, but also for their communication and guidance through these hard decisions! I am forever thankful for Tennessee Equine Hospital, and all that they do for my animals!
Right now, Maggie and her baby girl are as healthy as we could ask for, and it’s a dang miracle!
I wouldn’t say we are out of the woods yet with Momma Maggie, so I would greatly appreciate continued prayer and positivity sent her way through this healing process❤️
For now, we watch them closely with admiration and love, and hope we get to bring them both home soon!
