Ronaldo Jr. Trains with Real Madrid U-16, Joining Possible
Son of football legend explores youth team opportunity amid recovery stay in Madrid

[OSEN=Ko Sung-hwan reporter] Will he follow in his father’s footsteps? The possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo (41, Al Nassr)’s eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. (16), joining Real Madrid has emerged.
‘The Athletic’ reported on the 25th (local time), “Ronaldo’s eldest son is preparing to join Real Madrid’s youth team by participating in training. Ronaldo Jr. trained with Real Madrid’s under-16 (U-16) team on Tuesday and is exploring the possibility of joining soon.”
Born in 2010, Ronaldo Jr. is already one of the rising talents in Europe. His position is also a forward. He stood out after growing up in the youth academies of Juventus and Manchester United, where his father played, and is now part of Al Nassr’s youth team in Saudi Arabia, following his father.

Ronaldo Jr. is also active in Portugal’s age-group national teams, skipping grades. Although born in the U.S., he was first selected for the Portuguese national team in May of last year. He later scored in the U-17 level as well. He is poised to lead Portuguese football, following in the footsteps of his father, who holds the national team’s all-time scoring record with 143 goals in 226 A-matches.
Now, the possibility of Ronaldo Jr. joining Real Madrid is being raised. Ronaldo himself became a legend at Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018, scoring 450 goals in 438 matches. If Ronaldo Jr. were to don the Real Madrid uniform, it would be a symbolically significant transfer.

According to ‘ESPN’, the Ronaldo family is currently staying in Madrid, Spain, for his recovery from an injury. Ronaldo recently injured his hamstring in the Saudi Pro League. After assessments showed the injury was more severe than initially expected, he moved to Madrid to focus on recovery. As a result, he was not included in the squad for the upcoming friendlies against the U.S. and Mexico during this international break.
However, this has become a new opportunity for Ronaldo Jr. ESPN explained, “A source stated that amid uncertainties in the Middle East, particularly due to conflicts related to Iran, Real Madrid provided a training opportunity to the son of a former player.”
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Ronaldo Jr.’s current training will immediately lead to a youth team contract.
ESPN noted, “According to sources familiar with the matter, it is too early to determine whether this will lead to a contract at this stage. Another source, while not completely ruling out future transfer possibilities, added that evaluations so far have not been entirely positive.”
