Cho Hyeong-rae, reporter] LA Dodgers Kim Hye-seong recorded his first RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly. The Dodgers secured a dramatic victory as Max Muncy hit three home runs, including the game-ending homer.

Kim Hye-seong started as the ninth shortstop in the ‘2026 Major League’ game against the Texas Rangers on the 11th (Korean time) at Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, U.S., and recorded one at-bat, no hits, one RBI, and one strikeout before being substituted.

Kim Hye-seong, who began the season in the minor leagues after failing to make the Major League opening roster, was called up to the majors ahead of the Washington Nationals series on the 6th. He seized the opportunity due to starter Mookie Betts’ abdominal muscle injury.

Kim Hye-seong started in the Toronto series on the 7th, recording two hits, one walk, and one run in four at-bats, along with a standout defensive play, delivering a perfect comeback game. On the 8th, he again started as shortstop, achieving one hit, one walk, and two runs in three at-bats. He was rested on the 9th, and the 10th was a travel day.

This marked his first home game since returning to the majors. In his first at-bat in the second inning, he struck out swinging. He battled Texas starter Kumar Rocker to a seven-pitch at-bat with two balls and two strikes but swung at an 87 mph slider breaking inward and went down via strikeout.

In the fifth inning, with runners on first and third and no outs after Andy Pages’ walk and Alex Freeland’s single, Kim Hye-seong stepped to the plate. With one ball and one strike, he fouled off three consecutive pitches, showing persistence. On the seventh pitch, he drove an 88.7 mph changeup to left field for a sacrifice fly. The runner on third, Pages, comfortably scored, narrowing the deficit from 2-4 to 3-4. Though not a timely hit, it marked Kim Hye-seong’s first RBI of the season.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Texas brought in left-handed pitcher Robert García as the second pitcher following Rocker. The Dodgers’ bench made a move, substituting Alex Freeland with pinch hitter Miguel Rojas. Rojas extended the inning with a single to shortstop, loading the bases with one out. Kim Hye-seong was then replaced by pinch hitter Santiago Espinal, ending his day. Espinal grounded into a double play, ending the inning. The pinch-hit strategy failed.

The Dodgers won 8-7 in a walk-off. With this victory, the Dodgers claimed their 10th win (3 losses). The Dodgers’ starting lineup was Shohei Ohtani (designated hitter), Kyle Tucker (right field), Will Smith (catcher), Freddie Freeman (first base), Max Muncy (third base), Teoscar Hernández (left field), Andy Pages (center field), Alex Freeland (second base), and Kim Hye-seong (shortstop). The starting pitcher was Tyler Glasnow.

The Dodgers scored first. In the bottom of the second inning, with one out and no runners on, Max Muncy hit a solo home run to right-center field to take the lead. However, they were struck by Texas in the top of the third. With two outs and runners on first and third after Josh Smith’s single to left field and Brandon Nimmo’s single to center field, Corey Seager hit a three-run homer. The Dodgers trailed 1-3.

The Dodgers narrowed the gap in the bottom of the fourth with one out and no runners on. Max Muncy hit his second solo home run to left field, making it 2-3. But in the top of the fifth, with two outs and no runners on, Wyatt Langford hit a solo home run to left field, extending Texas’ lead to 2-4.

However, the comeback began with Kim Hye-seong. In the bottom of the fifth, with Pages on base via walk and Freeland’s single to left field, Kim Hye-seong drove a sacrifice fly to left field with the bases loaded, narrowing the deficit to 3-4.

Then, in the bottom of the sixth, with Freeman on base via walk and Teoscar Hernández’s single to left field, Pages hit a two-run double with one out, giving the Dodgers a 5-4 lead.

The Dodgers extended their lead in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on first, Pages hit a two-run homer to left-center field, making it 7-4. Pages finished with four RBIs. In the top of the ninth, closer Edwin Díaz allowed a two-run homer to Evan Carter and an RBI single to Ezekiel Durán, erasing the three-run lead. Díaz blew the save.

Just as the momentum seemed lost, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Max Muncy hit another home run. His walk-off solo homer completed an 8-7 victory.
