Stefon Diggs Hints at Dream Move to Washington Commanders as Buffalo Bills Reunion Appears Increasingly Unlikely
Stefon Diggs may have just provided the clearest indication yet about where he hopes to continue his NFL career.
For months, many around the league believed the veteran wide receiver could eventually find his way back to the Buffalo Bills. Former teammates openly discussed the possibility, fans embraced the idea, and the reunion narrative never completely disappeared during free agency.
Now, with NFL training camps only weeks away, that possibility appears to be fading.
Instead of looking back toward Buffalo, Diggs is openly discussing another destination—one much closer to home.
During a recent interview with FOX 5 in Washington, D.C., the four-time Pro Bowl receiver admitted that playing for the Washington Commanders has long been one of his biggest career dreams, adding significant momentum to growing speculation surrounding his next team.
Stefon Diggs Opens Up About Returning Home
Speaking in his hometown, Diggs did not hesitate when asked whether he had considered joining the Commanders.
“It’s a lot of hopes. We’re kind of figuring out, working through some things,” Diggs explained.
His comments quickly became more personal as he described what wearing Washington’s uniform would mean to him.
“I did have a small piece of me like, damn, it would be great to come home and play in front of the fans I used to play in front of as a young adolescent… that definitely would be a moment.”
The emotional response immediately caught the attention of NFL fans.
Unlike many free agents who avoid discussing specific teams publicly, Diggs appeared comfortable acknowledging that returning home remains high on his list of priorities.
When asked directly whether he had seriously thought about signing with Washington, his answer was even more revealing.
“One hundred percent.”
Diggs continued by explaining that the possibility reminded him of another major decision earlier in his football journey.
“That’s one of the first things I thought about. If I wanted to come back and play for my hometown team. I had that same kind of energy when I chose to go to the University of Maryland.”
He finished by leaving the door wide open.
“It would definitely be a thing if that kind of worked out. So we’ll see. We’re not ruling it out.”
Those remarks represent one of the strongest public endorsements Diggs has ever given regarding a potential future destination.
Buffalo Bills Reunion Losing Momentum
Not long ago, Buffalo appeared to be the most logical landing spot.
After spending several productive seasons catching passes from Josh Allen, many believed Diggs and the Bills could eventually reunite if the veteran receiver became available.
