49ers wrap up rookie class by signing 4th-round DT Gracen Halton
The San Francisco 49ers have officially locked in their entire rookie class ahead of training camp. The team announced the signing of defensive tackle Gracen Halton, which ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported will be for a four-year, $5.62 million deal. With Halton and Romello Height putting pen to paper, all eight of the 49ers’ selections are now under contract.
The 22-year-old native of San Diego, California, who attended St. Augustine High School, brings an explosive profile to the 49ers’ front office. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 293 pounds, Halton was selected out of Oklahoma with the first of San Francisco’s two fourth-round draft picks at No. 107 overall.
During a productive collegiate career with the Sooners, Halton appeared in 47 games (10 starts) over four seasons from 2022 to 2025. He accumulated 84 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes defensed. As a true freshman in 2022, Halton saw the field in 10 games, recording 10 tackles and a tackle for loss. He built upon that momentum in 2023 by appearing in 11 games and talling 11 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss.
Halton truly burst onto the scene during his final two years at Oklahoma. In 2024, he logged 13 appearances (three starts), racking up 30 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles. He saved his best for last in 2025, serving as a team captain and appearing in 13 games with seven starts. He tallied 33 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two passes defensed, and a memorable forced fumble that he returned for a touchdown, a performance that earned him Second-Team All-SEC honors.
In San Francisco, Halton figures to add valuable youth and athleticism to the team’s defensive front. He is expected to slide into the rotational mix on the interior defensive line behind veteran presence Osa Odighizuwa and fellow defensive tackle Alfred Collins. With Halton’s rookie deal finalized, the 49ers’ front office can officially cross their draft class off the to-do list as they shift their focus toward a grueling summer camp schedule.
