“Builder Discovers Massive Treasure While Renovating Newly Purchased Old House”

While refurbishing the recently acquired aged residence, the builder stumbled upon a significant fortune. Toño Piñeiro, the builder, experienced sheer delight upon uncovering approximately £47,000 stashed within Nesquik cans during the renovation of an antiquated dwelling. Located in Lugo, northwest Spain, the house underwent renovation, revealing six boxes brimming with cash, totaling roughly £47,500 in value, concealed within its walls.

However, Toño’s elation was short-lived as the discovered currency was in Spanish Peseta, a defunct currency since 2002. Attempting to exchange the money, Toño encountered hurdles due to some notes being too antiquated for conversion into Euros, having missed the exchange deadline set by the Bank of Spain.

Fortunately, Toño managed to exchange the old banknotes for approximately 30,000 Euros, which he utilized to construct a new roof for the property. Additionally, he retained a few of the old bills as keepsakes.

Reflecting on the find, Toño speculated that the previous homeowner stowed money within the boxes to shield it from moisture, noting that while some bills were damaged, others remained intact. The abandoned house, purchased by Toño through a Facebook listing, had languished for over four decades. Locals revealed that the property previously belonged to Manuel do Xeentes, who had worked at the Canabal brick factory and engaged in cattle trading, ultimately passing away without an heir.
