Replacements like De Paul and Suarez are beginning to feel the pressure from Inter Miami’s congested schedule and the lack of necessary support. Messi’s continued absence has left Coach Mascherano’s side without the attacking magic they have long relied on to break deadlocks.
This loss, coming right after their highly successful Leagues Cup group stage (reaching the quarterfinals), leaves Inter Miami stuck in the Eastern Conference standings with 42 points from 23 matches. While they still have three games in hand over their rivals, they are now 9 points behind leaders Philadelphia Union and 7 points behind second-place FC Cincinnati.
Inter Miami’s next match will be at home against LA Galaxy at 6:30 a.m. on August 17. According to U.S. media, Coach Mascherano is certain to bring Messi back to help the team find their winning ways again.
With LA Galaxy currently bottom of the overall MLS 2025 standings, this will be a golden opportunity for Inter Miami to secure a win, improve their position, and rejoin the race for the MLS Supporters’ Shield.
