Sanders, the 25-year-old son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, has been a polarizing figure since leaving college. His on-field flashes are undeniable, but lingering injuries and off-field drama have followed him into the NFL.

After going undrafted in 2025, Sanders signed with Tampa Bay and appeared in three preseason games. His stint ended abruptly after an ejection for unnecessary roughness against Buffalo, leading the Buccaneers to waive him on August 24.

Despite the rocky start, Kansas City sees developmental potential. Sanders logged 161 tackles, 11 interceptions, and six forced fumbles across 41 college games, including a standout 2023 season at Colorado when he led the team in solo tackles.

The Chiefs’ defensive backfield has undergone adjustments throughout camp, and adding Sanders would represent a low-risk move. His ability to play safety, contribute on special teams, and even provide depth at corner makes him an intriguing option.
