The sheriff’s office posted pictures and a statement on Facebook which explained that the eagle flew in front of a motorist before becoming lodged in the front of his car.

Police officers and a fire crew worked together to free the bird, who was described as “alive and well, before handing it over to the B.E.A.K.S. wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary in Jacksonville.

Internet users took to social media to post pictures of the puzzled looking bird and to claim it’s odd accident as a metaphor for the bizarre presidential election currently taking place.

Science journalist John Schwartz wrote on Twitter: “Really, in a deep sense, aren’t we all the bald eagle stuck in the car grille? And aren’t we all just as ready to peck somebody’s eyes out?”

Some even joked that Donald Trump was behind the wheel of the car involved although the Republican nominee has had difficulties with bald eagles before.

Last December the celebrity businessman arranged for the bird to be brought to his office so he could use it for a photoshoot to be published in Time Magazine.

However, the eagle – called Uncle Sam – seemed less than happy to pose with the 70-year-old and hilariously attacked him on camera.
