Cowboys coach confident they can beat Packers without two key offensive starters
The Dallas Cowboys could be without two of their best players on offense when they host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and offensive guard Tyler Booker are both dealing with ankle injuries that could sideline them for multiple weeks.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said this week that placing Booker and Lamb on injured reserve is a consideration.
However, first-year Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Wednesday that they are good enough to win on Sunday even without two key starters on offense.
“We’re good enough to beat the Packers without (CeeDee Lamb and Tyler Booker),” Schottenheimer via ESPN’s Todd Archer.
Green Bay is currently riding a five-game winning streak (including playoffs) against the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, the longest opponent road winning streak against Dallas in team history.

The Packers will also likely be down a key starter as right tackle Zach Tom (oblique) is not expected to play in Week 4, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Cowboys sit at 1-2 and are coming off a 31-14 loss to the Chicago Bears. Dallas’ lone win of the season came in overtime against a winless New York Giants team that is now turning to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart to try to save their season.
The Cowboys have performed well offensively to start the season under Schottenheimer, ranking fourth in total offense and 10th in points per game.
Schottenheimer first joined the Dallas staff in 2022 before being promoted to offensive coordinator and then head coach, but Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said they are starting from scratch when it comes to preparing to face them this time around.
“Different scheme, they’re asking guys to do different things. Obviously, different players every year,” said LaFleur. “Certainly, when you look at their offense, they’re an explosive offense, and they do a good job both in the run game and the pass game.”
LaFleur also spoke highly of quarterback Dak Prescott’s play this season and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, whom he has “as much respect for as almost anybody in the league.”
Green Bay and Dallas will release injury reports on Wednesday, providing a first glimpse of who may or may not be available for Sunday’s matchup. Both teams are looking to rebound from disappointing losses in Week 3.
