The Baltimore Ravens, who selected the personable defensive tackle in the fifth round of the 2010 draft, announced his passing on social media.

Jones was 39. No details of his death have been released.

“We are terribly saddened to learn of Arthur Jones’ passing,’’ the Ravens posted. “Arthur’s presence was a gift to everyone he encountered. His big, bright smile, infectious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continuously uplifted others.

“He was kind, courteous and enthusiastic – always displaying a love for family, teammates and friends.

“We send our condolences to the Jones family and all who loved Arthur.’’

After four seasons, including a world championship after the 2012 season with the Ravens, Jones was one of then-Colts general manager Ryan Grigson’s higher-priced free agent acquisitions. He signed a five-year, $33 million contract in 2014 that included $10 million guaranteed.

One of the endorsers of the deal was Chuck Pagano. He was an assistant coach with the Ravens from 2008-11, including their defensive coordinator in ’11 before being named the Colts head coach in 2012.

The Colts expected the 6-3, 301-pound Jones to become an anchor of their defensive line, but injuries limited his availability and effectiveness. He was limited to 17 games and 11 starts and missed the entirety of 2015 after undergoing surgery on his left ankle.

On X, the Colts posted: “We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Colts DT Arthur Jones. Our thoughts are with his family, former teammates, and loved ones.”

In Indy, Jones generated 53 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and four quarterback hits.

Jones is the older brother of former UFC star Jon Jones and former standout NFL defensive end Chandler Jones.
