CeeDee Lamb Injury Update After Cowboys WR Goes Down Against Lions

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys were already trailing the Detroit Lions during their Thursday Night Football game on December 4, but in the third quarter, the Cowboys got even more bad news when wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was injured trying to make a catch and quickly walked off the field to the sidelines.

Following the play, social media  lit up with the idea that Lamb suffered a concussion. “CeeDee was out cold. If he comes back the concussion protocol is broken,” one viewer said on X. “Looks like CeeDee season should be done,” another added.

The hit looked bad, and former NFL player Ross Tucker reported just minutes after the incident, “CeeDee Lamb going to locker room after walking with red hat for a while. That’s not good.” So, here’s the latest on the status of Lamb’s injury.

Update on CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys

Shortly after the incident, the Dallas Cowboys officially announced that Lamb is out for the game with a concussion. So, in a game where the Cowboys were already trailing, they lost one of their best with nearly half of the game left.

At first, viewing the incident, it looked as if Lamb was dealing with an arm injury, but it was actually his head hitting the turf where he was injured. He was leaning towards his left arm after falling in the end zone, and after being down a few seconds, he walked off the field, bracing his arm.

According to the team, doctors evaluated Lamb for three minutes and rule him out. That’s when he was taken to the locker room, according to the game’s broadcast on the Prime Video.

Lamb is a force for this team. In 2022, Lamb had four receptions for 70 yards in a 24-6 win in Week 7. In 2023, he had one of the greatest games of his career in a thrilling, 20-19 win in Week 17 with 13 receptions for 227 yards and one touchdown.

“I find it fun; that’s what football is,” Lamb told reporters on Monday, December 1, leading up to the Detroit Lions game. ”Sometimes the refs let you play, sometimes they won’t. We’ll see how it goes. But as far as the physicality of the game, I know what’s going to happen.”

Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb suffers sickening concussion after slamming his head against the turf

Lamb’s head smacked the turf at Ford Field in Michigan as he attempted to catch a pass in the end zone.

The veteran pass catcher almost instantly went into a ‘fencing posture’ – indicative of a concussion – and required medical attention.

After a significant stoppage, Lamb was helped off the field and was brought to the Dallas ‘blue tent’.

NFL on Amazon reporter Kaylee Hartung said on the broadcast that the star pass catcher was evaluated for roughly three minutes before being ruled out.

Hartung added that she overheard Lamb telling training staff that he ‘didn’t need their assistance’ getting to the locker room.

Lamb was also seen visibly upset that he was being forced to exit the contest.

Prior to the injury, Lamb was the top receiver for the Cowboys on the evening as he formed a strong connection with quarterback Dak Prescott.

Lamb brought in six catches for 121 yards on the evening before it came to a sudden end – sooner than expected.

In his absence, the Cowboys were still able to score a touchdown on that drive – following that up later with a long touchdown pass to Ryan Flournoy.

After being down 27-9, they scored on three of their first four second-half drives to be down only 30-27.

But the Lions pulled away late and held Dallas to just a field goal down the stretch – winning 44-30.
