Baby Bongo’s Journey to Recovery

Despite the odds, we began raising his body temperature and fighting infection to give him a fighting chance. However, due to his malnourished state, we knew surgery would not be an option for him initially, so we focused on getting him as strong as possible first.

Bongo proved to be a fighter, showing a good appetite and an interest in living. After several weeks, we were able to amputate his injured leg and deal with the infection. Although he still had a long road ahead of him, great progress had been made, and he was finally pain-free.

It took at least two months to completely heal Bongo’s wound, and during this time, he faced some soft bone issues with his legs. However, with good nutrition and care, his body began to balance out, and he continued to make strides towards recovery.

Now, Bongo is thriving, feeling good on three legs, and even auditioning for the role of “lawn mower.” Despite the uncertainty of his survival when he first came into our care, Baby Bongo’s journey to recovery shows that rescue truly does matter.
