From the classroom to the playground: The story of a service dog who continues to make history with his own master’s degree

For centuries now, dogs and humans have shared a special bond, often described as inseparable. Dogs bring joy, companionship, and sometimes even life-saving support to their human companions. This is especially true for service dogs, trained to assist individuals in need, both physically and emotionally.

Enter Noodle, a remarkable Golden Labrador, who exemplifies the unwavering dedication of service dogs to their owners.

An incredible pup named Noodle embarked on a unique journey alongside her owner, Jacklyn, as they pursued academic and professional endeavors together. After completing rigorous training to become a service dog, Noodle was adopted by Jacklyn and became an integral part of her life.

As Jacklyn pursued her Master’s degree, Noodle accompanied her to classes, quietly offering her support and companionship. Little did they know, Noodle was making history as the first and only dog to walk for Purdue University’s graduation that year.

“Noodle usually spent the classes napping at Jacklyn’s feet and drawing all of the attention onto her,” Jacklyn fondly recalled. “She was also my biggest support, loyally standing by my side through every single one of my homework assignments.”

Their journey didn’t stop there. With determination and Noodle’s unwavering encouragement, Jacklyn landed an internship at Walt Disney Imagineering, where Noodle continued to be a beloved presence, known among cast members as well.

Even before their internship, Noodle was well-versed in all things Disney, having frequented the theme park with Jacklyn. So, it was no surprise when Noodle became, according to Disney Parks Blogs, the first doggo Imagineer in Florida.

“While Jacklyn worked as a professional intern in the Imagineering department, Noodle patiently waited for her to finish so that they could explore the Florida Disney parks,” shared Jacklyn. “But, it didn’t matter to her if she spent the entire day in the office or seeing all the magical places – as long as Noodle was by Jacklyn’s side, she was one happy pup.”

Their journey culminated in Jacklyn’s graduation, where she proudly walked alongside Noodle, who donned her own cap and tassel, symbolizing her role in Jacklyn’s success.

“Of course, Noodle proudly walked at Purdue University’s graduation ceremony in her fitted black gown and her adorable cap,” Jacklyn beamed. “And, as soon as it was over, this golden girl celebrated in the best way possible! She enjoyed sticks after the ceremony.”

As they embark on their next adventure, Noodle and Jacklyn serve as an inspiring reminder of the incredible bond between humans and their canine companions, showcasing the profound impact that love, support, and companionship can have on our lives.
