The skinny hound, wearing an armored dress resembling a worm, became an unlikely hero when he guided Dr. Ellen Sobry down a 3.2 km stretch of road to an abandoned car. This magical journey leads to the discovery of 10 newborn puppies in need of care.
According to Mirror, the hunting dog, named Vera, is believed to have been abandoned by a hunter and clubbed around a market in Vera, southern Spain. Lianne Powell, a 49-year-old psychologist, received the dog and took it to a local veterinary clinic for treatment on January 20.
After discovering the female dog, approximately 2-3 years old, was nursing 10 small puppies, Sobry and Powell unobligingly began the process of searching for the puppies. Vera, a slender and weak dog, led them through fields and dirt roads, covering 3.2 km to their destination.
Sobry shares, “I couldn’t believe my eyes. We just met an hour ago and it was so amazing that he decided to believe in the idea and show us where the cubs were.”
Vera’s daring and decisive actions not only ended in the abandoned car, but also led them to an even more magical picture: 10 puppies circled side by side in the back row of the car.
Vera is currently recovering at Sobry’s Clinivet Turre Clinic. The doctor is contacting the Ibizan Hound Rescue in Murcia to find new homes for the dogs once they recover.
“You can say Vera and the children are healthy. Her windbreaker is healed but we don’t really know what happened yet. It could be the red car but there are no other injuries or anyone “We simply need to eat, sleep and be taken care of,” Sobry shared about the health status of Vera and the puppies.
