The calf was led back to its family by a rescue team from the forest department in Tamil Nadu after it got lost in Mudumalai National Park in southern India.
Footage shows four park rangers walking in front of the baby elephant, thought to be only a few months old, as they guide it to safety down a luscious green track.
The elephant can be seen closely following one of its rescuers, who is dressed in khaki camouflage, while another of the team encourages the calf on from behind.

The calf stops and looks up before making a guttural roar of delight as it is reunited with its family.
The elephant then trots towards its mother, thought to be waiting behind the camera, in delight.
