Jelly, a 14-year-old dog, was left behind at the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter in Los Angeles for an unspecified reason. Elaine Seamans, a volunteer at the Baldwin Park Shelter and the At-Choo Foundation, a group that helps cover the costs of shelter dogs’ medical care, fell in love with the small creature. After seeing several pictures of the unfortunate, blind puppy that had been abandoned, the woman discovered from Jelly that she undoubtedly appeared depressed and lonely.
Elaine said to The Dodo:
I was moved by her. I made the choice to go see her.

For reasons Elaine doesn’t know, Jelly was returned to the Baldwin Park Shelter earlier this month. While any dog would have found this change challenging, Jelly undoubtedly found it more harder given his advanced age, blindness, hearing loss, and a plethora of other medical conditions.
Elaine wasn’t sure how kind Jelly would be given what had occurred. She was so shocked when she picked her up and the small dog kissed Elaine’s cheek.
Elaine remarked:
“I wasn’t expecting him to be as charming and self-assured as he was. I stroked her head and she didn’t flinch or pull away from my touch. She leaned into my chest when I lifted her up and didn’t move once she was there. She craved affection as well as the sound and sensation of someone embracing her.”
Elaine was adamant about finding Jelly the ideal home even though she was unable to adopt her. As a result, the woman uploaded pictures of Jelly to social media, where they were discovered by Carlynne McDonnell, the CEO and creator of Barkee Laroux’s House of Love Animal Sanctuary.
