Adam Schefter shares major update on Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte
There could be more movement for theĀ New England PatriotsĀ at wide receiver this summer. Unfortunately, this could be a case where the team potentially loses one of its top deep threat options.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter,Ā PatriotsĀ wide receiverĀ Kayshon Boutte, who is currently in the final year of his rookie contract, is interested in being traded. Boutte has worked out away from the team during the voluntary offseason program.
āOne wide receiver Iām still suspecting that something might happen with is Kayshon Boutte,” Schefter said onĀ The Adam Schefter Podcast. “He has not been there for the offseason program. He has been interested in a trade. I would think that at some point this summer, we may get action there. Another deal, Kayshon Boutte going somewhere else. Weāll see how that works out.ā
With the additions ofĀ A.J. BrownĀ andĀ Romeo Doubs, Boutte’s production will likely take a significant hit in 2026. That isn’t ideal for a player hoping to maximize his opportunities on the 2027 free agent market. So it would make sense financially for the Patriots’ former sixth-round pick to find an opportunity where he’ll be featured more on offense.
NFL insider Albert BreerĀ said back in May that he believes Boutte could be traded for a fifth or sixth-round draft pick. The fact that there has been no movement on that front yet could mean the right offer hasn’t come across the table.
However, that doesn’t mean the Patriots wouldn’t be open for business when it finally does.
