During a stoppage in play in the third quarter, with the Warriors down 71-66 to the Orlando Magic, Kerr and Green were seen getting into a heated discussion – with both people gesticulating at each other.

Teammate Moses Moody and assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse tried calming Green down to no effect.

The argument continued for some time before Kerr turned to give instructions to the team – with Green walking to the locker room.

After remaining there for the rest of the third quarter, Green returned to sit on the bench for the fourth quarter.

He did not appear for the rest of the game and the Warriors went on to win 120-97.

Following the contest, both coach and player did not provide great detail into what started the fight.

‘Tempers spilled over, and I thought it was best that I get out of there,’ Green said.

‘I don’t think it was a situation where it was going to get better. It was best to remove myself.’

‘We had it out a little bit,’ Kerr said. ‘He made his decision to go back to the locker room to cool off. That’s all I’m going to say about it. Everything is private.’

Kerr added that despite Green’s return to the bench, the player was kept out: ‘No. He wasn’t going back in. No. He left. He went back to the locker room. We moved forward, and the guys played great.’

The coach continued: ‘We need Draymond. He’s a champion. We’ve been together for a long time. It’s unfortunate what happened, but it happened.’

Green only logged 18 minutes before leaving the floor. He scored nine points, seven rebounds and two assists.

It’s the second straight game where Green left early. After just eight minutes of playing time against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, Green was ejected.
