Real Madrid surprisingly show interest in coach Emery.

Real Madrid have identified Unai Emery as the top replacement for Alvaro Arbeloa.

Emery is one of the most experienced coaches in Europe.

The former Real Madrid defender was promoted to lead the first team after Xabi Alonso left the Bernabeu earlier this month. Arbeloa’s start wasn’t smooth sailing, with Real losing to Albacete in the Copa del Rey. Most recently, the 2-4 defeat against Benfica in the Champions League has created a tense atmosphere at the Bernabeu.

The disappointing result forced Real into the play-off round to keep their hopes of continuing their European journey alive, while also raising serious questions about Arbeloa’s future on the coaching bench.

In that context, names like Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho, and Jurgen Klopp have been mentioned as potential candidates. However, according to Marca , Real Madrid’s management has a more realistic option: Unai Emery.

Marca claims that if Real Madrid decides to change managers at the end of the season, Emery is in the most favorable position to take over the Royal team. Initial contacts to gauge the Spanish strategist’s readiness are said to have taken place in recent days.

At 54 years old, Emery is one of the most experienced and highly regarded coaches in Europe. He has managed a host of major clubs such as Valencia, Sevilla, PSG, Arsenal, and Villarreal. Since taking over Aston Villa in 2022, Emery has helped the team rise strongly, qualify for the Champions League, and are currently competing for the Premier League title with Arsenal and Man City.

After 172 matches with Aston Villa, Emery achieved a win rate of over 56%. He is renowned for his unprecedented achievements, winning three consecutive Europa League titles with Sevilla and another with Villarreal. These accomplishments have made Emery a highly influential figure in Real Madrid’s future plans.
