Kansas City Chiefs Free Agency Tracker. Who’s Coming, Who’s Going and Who’s Staying

Kansas City, MO. March 2026. The early weeks of NFL free agency have already delivered dramatic change for the Kansas City Chiefs.
After another deep postseason run and the historic Super Bowl LX victory, the franchise entered the offseason determined to refresh key positions while preserving the championship core around quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The result has been a series of aggressive moves. Kansas City added explosive talent, retained several trusted veterans, and made one surprising blockbuster trade that reshaped the secondary.
Here is the most complete breakdown of the Chiefs’ roster movement as of early March 2026.
New Signings. Fresh Talent Arrives in Kansas City
The most headline-grabbing addition came in the backfield. The Chiefs signed running back Kenneth Walker III to a three-year contract worth $43.05 million, with incentives that could push the deal to $45 million and $28.7 million guaranteed.
Walker arrives in Kansas City carrying enormous momentum after earning Super Bowl LX MVP honors, instantly becoming one of the most electrifying weapons in the Chiefs offense.
On defense, Kansas City strengthened the secondary by signing safety Alohi Gilman to a three-year, $24.75 million contract, including $15 million guaranteed. Gilman brings range and physicality to the back end of Steve Spagnuolo’s defense, adding stability following several offseason departures.
The defensive front also gained size and toughness with the addition of defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga. Tonga agreed to a three-year deal worth $21 million, with $14 million guaranteed, giving Kansas City a powerful interior presence capable of anchoring the run defense.
Players Staying. Key Veterans Remain in the Kingdom
One of the most emotional announcements of the offseason involved legendary tight end Travis Kelce. The future Hall of Famer agreed to a one-year extension worth $12 million, with incentives that could increase the value to $15 million.
The deal keeps Kelce in Kansas City for his 14th NFL season, continuing one of the most iconic partnerships in league history with Mahomes.
The Chiefs also kept depth at wide receiver by re-signing Tyquan Thornton to a two-year contract worth $9 million, including $5 million guaranteed. Thornton’s speed remains a valuable vertical threat in Andy Reid’s offensive system.
Two exclusive-rights free agents were retained as well. Receiver Nikko Remigio and punter Matt Araiza both returned on one-year minimum contracts valued at $1.035 million.
Meanwhile, long snapper James Winchester signed a one-year deal worth $1.37 million, continuing his long tenure as one of the league’s most reliable specialists.
