NFL insiders reported Tuesday that linebacker Leo Chenal will join the Washington Commanders as part of a three-year, $24.75 million deal.
Chenal has spent his career with the Chiefs after he was selected by Kansas City in the 2022 NFL draft.
“From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you,” Chenal said in a letter to Chiefs fans. “You’ve consistently been incredibly kind to me and my family over the last four years. I will never forget the love, support and energy you bring to training camp practices, game days and everything in between.”
“I’m so grateful for the time I’ve had here — the championships we shared, the parades and the incredible game day atmosphere. I never imagined I would be leaving KC, which is why I appreciate you all for making it so hard to say goodbye,” he continued.
He thanked his teammates for their friendship and brotherhood, as well as the coaches and managers for “the opportunity of a lifetime.”
“I have nothing but love for Chiefs Kingdom, no matter what,” Chenal said. “Kansas City will always hold a special place in my heart.”
