At 34 years old, Jimmy Garoppolo is reportedly preparing to retire, bringing an end to a 12-year career that included multiple playoff runs, a Super Bowl appearance, and significant financial success.
His NFL journey began in 2014 when the Patriots selected him in the second round with the 62nd overall pick, immediately placing him in one of the league’s most competitive environments.
During his time in New England from 2014 to 2017, Garoppolo primarily served as the backup to Tom Brady, learning within a championship system while waiting for his opportunity.
Despite limited playing time, he contributed to the team’s success and earned two Super Bowl rings, capturing titles in Super Bowl XLIX and LI.
Statistically, his Patriots tenure was efficient in small samples, completing 63 of 94 passes for 690 yards and five touchdowns across 17 appearances.
