The Kansas City Chiefs are looking ahead to the 2025 NFL season, and with the Super Bowl beating in their rear view mirror, they are still the team to beat in the AFC. While some players are holding onto the lopsided loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Travis Kelce is done discussing the topic.

While speaking to reporters about the Super Bowl loss, Kelce stated that he has “moved on.”

“I’ve thrown that thing in the trash,” Kelce said. “I’ve moved on. It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year in the offseason.”

It is not at all shocking that Kelce wants to focus only on this season, as it may be his last. The star tight end was reportedly considering retirement following the conclusion of the 2024 season, and it was rumored he would have hung up his cleats had the Chiefs walked away with the big win.

That was clearly not the case, and the Chiefs welcomed Kelce back when he revealed on his podcast that he would return for another season with the team. Beyond the 2025 season is where things could get tricky.

Recently, Kelce joined the “Bussin With the Boys” podcast, where he stated that he plans to give this season everything he has.

Chiefs Coach Andy Reid Confirms Theory About TE Travis Kelce

“Man, I want to make this [expletive] the best thing ever.”

“It might have made me think about it a little bit more, I think. I just had a sour taste in my mouth immediately, and like man, I can’t—this can’t be the last game, you know?”

“I still feel like I can do it, and I kind of wanted to give myself that full focus. When I looked back at the year and how I prepared, it’s not like I was doing it wrong, but I want to give it everything.”

Kelce also states that he does not know if he will return to the NFL following the 2025 season, even from a contractual perspective. Should the Chiefs not sign him, Kelce might be on another team in 2026, though that would be very shocking if it actually happened.

For now, Kelce is not holding onto the Super Bowl loss and using it as fuel, like Patrick Mahomes. Instead, he is choosing to focus on 2025 and getting back to the big game.
