Messi Beams with Joy as De Paul Joins Inter Miami
Messi was full of joy and energy alongside De Paul before his younger “bodyguard” officially made his debut with Inter Miami.
Inter Miami has confirmed the loan signing of midfielder Rodrigo De Paul from Atlético Madrid until the end of the 2025 MLS campaign, with a purchase option extending through the 2029 season.

The condition for De Paul moving to the U.S. and joining the pink-shirted team was simple: if Messi extends his contract, De Paul will sign!
David Beckham’s efforts to bring De Paul to Inter Miami once again show the lengths the former Manchester United star is willing to go to please Messi — all to ensure the Argentine legend is happy both on and off the pitch.

This move also serves as a motivational boost for Messi ahead of the 2026 World Cup, as not only De Paul, but all Argentinians hope to see their captain once again on football’s biggest stage.

In addition to being a key player for both Atlético Madrid and Argentina, De Paul is famously known as Messi’s bodyguard — admired for his loyalty and readiness to stand up for his captain under any circumstances.
