Just 3 hours after learning he would be joining the New York Giants, a young star wide receiver with 2,941 yards and 25 touchdowns in his career expressed his disappointment.

Just 3 hours after receiving the news that he would be traded to the New York Giants in a deal involving defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.

Young star wide receiver Kayshon Boutte of the New England Patriots publicly expressed deep disappointment.

Boutte, a highly promising young wide receiver who has been emerging strongly in Drake Maye’s offensive system, said he was completely shocked and hurt by the decision.

Despite showing clear progress with impressive performances in the WR2 role, Boutte still felt betrayed when the Patriots decided to include him in the trade package to acquire Lawrence – one of the top stars in the NFL.

Kayshon Boutte 10/16: "I'm confident in everybody, and I love what we do"

College career: Boutte was a star at LSU, exploding for over 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns in just three seasons, including a record-setting performance of 308 yards and 3 touchdowns in a single game.

NFL talent: With his speed, deep-ball ability, and explosiveness after earning more playing time, Boutte has accumulated approximately 2,941 yards and 25 touchdowns in his career (combined college + NFL), becoming one of the most intriguing young wide receivers on the Patriots roster.

Warrior mentality: He is known for his resilience, strong work ethic, and ability to quickly adapt under pressure.

Although Boutte had contributed and gradually established his role within the Patriots roster (including the 2025 season with over 550 yards and 6 touchdowns), the team still chose to use him along with other assets to trade for Dexter Lawrence – who recently requested a trade from the Giants due to contract disputes.

This decision came as a surprise, especially as the Patriots have been building around a young offensive core.

“I gave everything to the Patriots, but they treated me like a pawn in a game they were willing to sacrifice. I will never return to New England, no matter how much they offer me. After everything I’ve been through, it’s time for me to prove my worth somewhere else,” Boutte said emotionally following the announcement.

Now, Boutte is expected to join the New York Giants once the Dexter Lawrence trade is finalized, hoping to rediscover his peak form and contribute to a team in need of new energy at the wide receiver position.

Despite leaving with regret, he still receives respect from the Patriots community, who acknowledge his potential, growth, and the memorable moments he brought during his time with the team.

Boutte’s journey in New England may be over, but the career of this “rising young star” is certainly far from finished. The Giants promise to be a new launching pad for him.
