In a series of reports compiled by The Sporting News, Real Madrid could be plotting a move for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise — and the Frenchman has a pretty significant backer pushing for it:

Real Madrid are preparing to move for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, with Alan Nixon reporting that the Frenchman has been identified as Los Blancos’ priority target for the 2025 (BFW Editor’s Note: We can assume this means the 2026 transfer window) summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old only joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in 2024, but his sparkling form has already made him one of Europe’s most watched forwards, with Manchester City also tracking him yet Real Madrid appear to be in pole position at this stage.

According to Defensa Central, Kylian Mbappé has privately pushed for Olise’s signing after being impressed by his international break performances where the winger played a central role in France’s attack.

With so much attacking talent already, why would Real Madrid start exploring a move for Olise (aside of Mbappé’s request), who could cost nine figures or more? Well, the future of Vinicius Junior could now be in doubt at the club:

Vinícius Júnior’s situation at the Bernabeu has grown increasingly complicated, with Diario Sport reporting that the Brazilian could explore leaving in 2027 should contract negotiations remain stalled. Talks over a new deal have been paused after the winger’s role diminished under new manager Xabi Alonso.

The 25-year-old’s frustration became public during a league clash against Espanyol when he reacted angrily to being substituted. Alonso, according to reports, is beginning to lose patience with the forward’s attitude, further clouding the outlook for a player once seen as the club’s attacking cornerstone.

It is far too early for Bayern Munich fans to push the panic button. Olise has a contract that runs through 2029 and the Bavarians likely have no interest in selling. Bayern Munich is expected to offer Olise a re-worked deal that would include a hefty raise and a contract extension, which should put everyone at ease if Olise accepts it when it is proposed. If Olise rejects it, though, maybe at that point it would be time to worry.

In addition to Real Madrid, Liverpool is also reported to have interest in Olise.
