Dodgers Snap Win Streak, Lose First Game of 2026

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost their first game of 2026 Cactus League play Friday, falling to the San Francisco Giants, 12-2.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto made his final pitching appearance before leaving to the 2026 World Baseball Classic, pitching three innings and allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out four batters during his outing.

The Giants got going early through Willy Adames, who hit a solo homer in the bottom of the first inning to get San Francisco on the board first.

L.A. quickly responded, though, as James Tibbs III rocketed a triple down the first base line in then top of the second inning to level the score at one. San Francisco scored once more in the bottom of the second, but the Dodgers quickly responded again through a Santiago Espinal single to level the game at two.

The game remained tied heading into the fourth inning, but the Dodgers’ bats went quiet while the Giants continued to pile on runs. San Francisco pulled ahead in the fourth inning with a one-run single, then broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth with a five-run frame. Jared Oliva hit his first of two two-run singles, and Victor Bericoto hit a three-run shot to give the Giants a six-run lead.

They tagged the Dodgers for four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, with Oliva logging two more RBIs, Patrick Bailey poking an RBI single back up through the middle and a throwing error plating another runner.

Chris Newell managed a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to claw a couple of runs back for the Dodgers, but they serves as only consolation as they went on to suffer their first loss of the preseason.

Despite their loss, the Dodgers still have the fewest losses of any team in spring training, and will look to bounce back Saturday in their first split-squad games against the Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs, both of which start at 12:05 p.m. PT.

Do you think the Dodgers will bounce back tomorrow?
