💥 THIS JUST HAPPENED: Guerrero Jr. moves up to second base and immediately hits a home run, Blue Jays rediscover their “superstar” in an unexpected way! ⚡
Just a small change in the lineup.
But the result is huge
.
The Toronto Blue Jays just witnessed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. return to the style of a true superstar. And all this happened after he was moved up to second base in the lineup.
In Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers, Coach John Schneider made a bold decision: moving Guerrero from his usual third base to second, giving the third base to Daulton Varsho. Many were initially skeptical, but Guerrero answered with a baseball bat.
In the first inning, facing Jack Flaherty – a very difficult pitcher – Guerrero Jr. He spun around and hit a fastball into the center, sending the ball straight over the left field fence.

Home run.
The 23-game home run officially ended.
Guerrero ran around the bases with a slight smile, but his eyes showed clearly: he had found himself again.
It wasn’t just a home run. It was a powerful affirmation after more than a month of declining form. Before this game, Guerrero had only been shooting 6/51 (.118) for over a month. Many experts began to question his form. But just one change in batting position changed everything.
In the second batting inning, Guerrero continued to impress as he awkwardly swung his club but still managed to get the ball into the middle of the field, securing his second hit of the day. Immediately afterwards, Daulton Varsho with a triple putt brought Guerrero to home plate, giving the Blue Jays another crucial point.
Why did playing second place prove so surprisingly effective?
Guerrero Jr. has repeatedly stated his preference for playing third because he wants to be protected by strong hitters around him. But perhaps the pressure of playing second – having to create production right from the start of the lineup – awakened his competitive instincts.
Coach John Schneider said after the game that he simply wanted to “change the flow” and hoped Guerrero would feel more comfortable coming up early. The result was the perfect answer.

Is this a turning point for Guerrero and the Blue Jays?
This season, Guerrero is still maintaining fairly good stats (.280/.370/.360 before the game), but his power is clearly lacking. Sunday’s home run was proof that he still has the potential to explode at any time. If he maintains this form from second batting, the Blue Jays’ lineup will become incredibly dangerous with the combination of Piñango’s speed in leadoff and Varsho’s power in third.
The Blue Jays desperately need Guerrero back to his peak form. The team is trying to break into the playoff race in the fiercely competitive AL East. A resurgent Guerrero could be the missing piece to make them a real threat

What do you think?
Is pushing Guerrero to second batting a smart move or just a lucky coincidence?
Can he maintain this form throughout the season?
