We’re so happy to have you back, Max! Max Muncy’s agent revealed that he and Muncy learned his club option was picked up through an email

Dodgers Told Max Muncy, His Agent About The Club Option Being Picked Up Via Email

It was the worst-kept secret in the sport.

Max Muncy had a club-option worth $10 million for the 2026 season. Given what he means to the Dodgers, and what he’s meant to the franchise during his tenure in Los Angeles, it was a major no-brainer to see him return to the team.

As was the case, the team did pick up the option. Muncy, a key cog in multiple World Series title teams, will yet again reprise his role as the team’s prominent hot corner option.

Muncy is a regular on the Foul Territory show featuring Scott Braun and ex-big leaguers Erik Kratz and A.J. Pierzynski. Meeting with the trio on Wednesday, Muncy spoke about the process in finding out that the Dodgers wanted him back in Dodger Blue. The way in which Muncy was alerted of the option being picked up may surprise more than a few people.

“It was an email. I think it’s one of those things where we all knew [the club option] was getting picked up,” Muncy said.

From there, Muncy said that his agent forwarded the email over to him nonchalantly and thus relayed the news that the star third baseman would be back with the ballclub.

“He forwarded it over and it was like ‘Sweet, I’m back again. This is what I wanted.’ It wasn’t one of those things where it was a coming down to the wire situation. We felt pretty good it was going to get picked up.”

The email may sound a bit funny. Having said that, Muncy has been a fixture with this franchise for nearly a decade. There wasn’t going to be a situation where he’d be blindsided given how much respect he commands from those in the organization.

With the Muncy situation taken care of, the Dodgers will now look to improve their outfield depth, middle infield depth, and depth in the bullpen.
