The Dallas Cowboys were officially eliminated from NFL playoff contention over the weekend.
The Cowboys fell to the Chargers on Sunday. The Cowboys dropped to 6-8-1 on the season with the loss. On Saturday, the Eagles bested the Commanders, winning the NFC East – and knocking the Cowboys out of playoff contention in the process.
Dallas, which won three Super Bowl championships in the 1990s, has now gone 30 years without a championship. The Cowboys last won a Super Bowl during the 1995 NFL season. It’s officially been 30 years since the Cowboys won a championship – or even reached the NFC Championship Game.
Who’s to blame?
Jerry Jones is assigning blame for the 30-year championship drought. He’s pointing the finger back at himself.
“I’ll admit that the Cowboys management has played a big role (in the 30-year Super Bowl drought). … But seriously, I’m very disappointed that the way we’re structured and my role puts us here tonight. I’m tremendously disappointed,” he said.
NFL fans agree with him
It’s tough to disagree with Jerry Jones at this point.
“Brian Schottenheimer is not the problem in Dallas. Mike McCarthy was not the problem. Jason Garrett wasn’t. Wade Phillips wasn’t. Bill Parcells wasn’t Dave Campo wasn’t and Chan Gailey wasn’t. The problem in Dallas is and always has been Jerry Jones,” one fan wrote.
“Jerry Jones can take those stats and cuddle with them in January to stay warm at night,” one fan added.
“Jerry Jones’ MASSIVE ego cost the Cowboys this season…,” one fan added.
“DO YOU REALLY THINK JERRY JONES CARES ABOUT THE SCORE TODAY? NO! DOES HE CARE ABOUT THE PAST 30 YEARS? NO! JERRY JONES SOLE FOCUS? IS HOW MUCH THE COWBOYS GENERATE EACH SEASON HE AIN’T RUNNING THE COWBOYS TO WIN SUPER BOWLS ANYMORE,” one fan added.
Who’s to blame, in your opinion?
