NBA Postpones Timberwolves-Warriors Game After Fatal Shooting In Minneapolis
The shooting death of a man in Minneapolis has prompted the NBA postpone a game that was scheduled for today.
On Saturday, a man was shot and killed during a confrontation with federal agents in the city. There have been several deaths involving federal officers this month.
ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the previously scheduled game in Minneapolis between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the visiting Golden State Warriors has now been postponed.
“The Timberwolves-Warriors game in Minneapolis has been postponed by the NBA, sources tell ESPN, in wake of a man shot and killed Saturday in a confrontation with federal agents in the city. It’s the second shooting there in a week, third this month, involving a federal officer,” Charania wrote.
The Timberwolves speak
In a statement released a short while ago, the Timberwolves stated that the decision was done to prioritize safety and security. The game will now be played on Sunday, January 25 at 4:30 p.m. local time.
“The National Basketball Association game scheduled for today between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center has been postponed. The decision was made to prioritize the safety and security of the Minneapolis community,” the team said in a statement. “The game has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. CT at Target Center.”

Fans expressed doubt that pushing the game off by a mere day will be enough given how high the tensions are between citizens and federal agents right now.
The Timberwolves are 27-18 on the season while the Warriors are 25-21.
